Reflecting back on the AS year: Technical strengths and weaknesses

AS; Music Video Remake

Three technical strengths:

- The artist looks enthusiastic in the video which is great as its an upbeat, elegant song. If we had an artist who's mood conflicted with the style of the song it wouldn't make much sense.

- The editing is simple but I think its effective, there are nice cuts which make the video look far more presentable than having no edits at all.

- I think the shot types we used were good, we used mainly mid shots and close ups to showcase the facial features and expressions of the artist which if done well, can really add a layer of meaning and conext to the lyrics. Also seen in the image above.

Three technical weaknesses:

- Some of the vocals are not synced up properly with the mouth movements of the artist, making the video look very unprofessional and cheaply constructed. To correct this, we should have made sure the artist knew the lyrics and also sang them in time to the original song.

- Mise-en-scene was very poor in the video. Throughout the video we see objects which shouldn't be there, visible to the audience which was just careless on our part. Furthermore this ca be easily corrected allowing for a better video instantly. The chairs to the right are visible.

- I think the lighting was very poor, a lot of shadows are seen which takes focus away from the artist which defeats the whole purpose of the video which is supposed to promote the artist in a positive light. We can also see a poor example of the lighting in the image above.
