Blogging Task: Skills audit

The research conducted in my AS year was not very thorough. So in this aspect of research, i've developed far better skills than I had last year. I am now able too look at things in a much more analytical light, being able to clearly distinct between what will work and what won't. Research in as was conducted really only for props and locational purposes. This year already I have looked at other videos within the same genre to properly gauge a fitting location, style and artist. For example, having a Hip-Hop music video set in the forest wouldn't make much sense at all, whereas a club setting would fit perfectly.

Now in my A2 year, everything is well planned, we have about 3 different locations down as possible options. We have visited these location make sure they fit our image for what we want are video to look like. as compared to last year, our original location need to be booked prior to filming there, because of this reason we were not able to film there. The change of location took us time to figure out, creating less time to film.

Also, we have sorted out what we want for our props. last year, our props were thought of on the spot while filming, "Oh we could use this" " Should we add this?" were thoughts that entered our minds during the filming process, which distracted us. This time we thought of props, noted them down and thought about how we could get hold of them.

This year we made an anamatic and a storyboard early on in the process, just a couple of weeks after our initial thoughts. We made the anamatic and story board by thinking up shots that we think could work well. Last year we made a random storyboard that we didn't even end up following. This is because when we went to try and film these shots, they just didn't make any sense or didn't look good.

So far my skills have developed far beyond last year even though I still have a lot to learn. I believe these new skills I have acquired will allow me to make a much higher quality of video.
