Research : What have I learnt about the music Industry

Over the years, the music industry has changed in many ways in the main three areas:

  1. Production
  2. Distribution
  3. Exchange
Production

Production is the process of making music and recording it to a sufficient standard in order for it to be sold. Over 10 years, the way in which music is being recorded and made has had a drastic change, Vinyl records were being used which didn't have the best of quality due to the lack of technology years back now CD's are being sold and made with better quality and are easier to use.

Distribution
Distribution is how the music get's to people and what is used to promote the record. A few years back small record shops were being used to promote their music to a niche audience, people would have to physically go out themselves and give out flyers to the public and put up poster. Now file sharing and downloading is in action, a lot of record companies use TV adverts and social networking sites to promote their artist song.

Exchange
Exchange is what is being exchanged between the people who own the music and the audience, when the music industry wasn't as advanced as today, record companies used to sell the music to different companies to make more money but now the artists perform live, go on TV guest shows, attend music festivals and go for interviews in order to promote their song and make more money.
