Research : Laura Mulvey

Laura  Mulvey believes that in some music videos they have a sexual imbalance which shows the male as an active role and a female as a passive role, she came up with the term ' the male gaze' meaning that females are seen as objects in some music videos to suit the male viewers. I believe that the genre which most suits this is hip-hop as the women which are featured in the majority of hip-hop music videos are seen wearing very little clothing or dancing in a seductive way.

The screenshot below shows a perfect example of the 'male gaze', from the image below it is evident how women are seen in hip-hop videos as she is dressed with very few clothing also the way the male artist is looking at the female.
